Together with her Dutch partner Rose Marie Nijkamp, Okutoyi made it to the Junior Wimbledon Girls' Doubles finals after the pair defeated the duo of Lucija Bagaric(Croatia) and Nikola Daubnerova (Serbia) 6-3, 6-4 to successfully secure their place in the title decider set for Saturday afternoon.

In the match that lasted for 1 hour and 19 minutes, Okutoyi and Nijkamp got off to a poor start as they were broken immediately in the opening game with the opponents holding onto their own serve for an early 0-2 lead.

The team managed to get on the board in the third game as they made it 1-2 before they used the momentum to get back the early break, levelling the scores 2-2.

Recovering that break pushed some wind into the sails of Okutoyi's team as they held onto their serve before breaking for a second time to lead 4-2.

From then on, they successfully held their own as they took the opening set 6-3.

In a rollercoaster second set, the team had a lethargic start once again as they trailed 0-2 after being broken in the second game.

They immediately got the break back in the next game before levelling the scores at 2-2 but they were broken again in the sixth game as Daubnerova and Bagaric went 2-4 up.

But as before, the pair broke back immediately and held their serve to restore parity at 4-4.

In the ninth game, a determined Okutoyi and Nijkamp came from 15-40 down before managing to take the single break point that availed itself in the match as they took a first time 5-4 lead.

It was a lead they did not let go as they served out the match with a 6-4 second set victory to qualify for the historic feat.

Okutoyi and Nijkamp will face the Canadian pair of Kayla Cross and Victoria Mboko in the final on Saturday.

Okutoyi had shifted her focus to the doubles after her singles run in the tournament, where she was making her debut, was ended in the very first round of the main draw. The 2020 African Junior tennis champion fell to a 6-3, 6-2 defeat against Canada’s Mia Kupres.
